Step 1 Revision
1. Class activities .Read No.5 on P.36
2. Do some exercises:
Fill in the blank with am, is, are.
The boy__ tall.
His mother ___ the United States.
I ___ short. You ___ tall, too. We ____ tall.
Fill in the blank with have/has
Does she ___ a cell phone? No. She only ____ a telephone.
Do they ____ a car? No. They only ____ a jeep.
Do you ____ a knife? Yes, I do. I _____ a small one.
Step 2 Presentation
Show some pictures like No. 1 on page 41. and teach the new words:
With, thin, young, heavy.
T: He is short with black hair. New words: with
He is tall with a thin face. thin
She is young with long legs. young
He is heavy with broad shoulders. broad
Is the boy tall or short? or
Are his trousers new or old?
Is the woman young or old ? woman (pl. women)
Step 3
Play the tape and ask the students to listen. Then ask them to open the book and read after the tape. Pay attention to the intonation.
Step 4
Listen and practice( No.2 on page 41)
1. Play the tape and get the students to listen to the tape and read after the tape. Make sure the students understand the dialogue.
2.Teacher show the pictures to the students and get them to make the sentences like the model:
1) small/foot big/hand
Is the foot big or small? It’s small.
Is the hand big or small? It’s big.
2) New/bike old/car
Is the bike new or old? It’s new.
Is the car new or old? It’s old.

3. Students can make the dialogue with their partners. Then come to the blackboard and act for the class.
Step 5
Teacher ask a tall student to stand up and ask the class:
Is he tall? (yes)
Is his hair long or short? ( It’s short.)
So how can you answer my question: What does he look like?
You may say: He is tall with short hair.
Ask the second student to stand up and make the same dialogue:

What does he look like?
He is …
Then ask the third.
