高中英語語法之單獨使用的所有格

1. 承前省略：即根據(jù)前文語境省略后文中所含的不言而喻的名詞。如：

He is buried in a grave next to his wife’s. 他被埋在妻子的墳旁。

I’ll go in Frank’s car and you can go in Alan’s. 我坐弗蘭克的車去，你可以坐阿蘭的去。

The man shortened his paces to match the child’s. 那男子把步子放慢，以配合孩子的步伐。

2. 習慣性省略：當所有格所修飾的名詞表示教堂、商店、診所、某人家、某人辦公室等時，所有格后的名詞有時可以省略。如：

I’ve just come back from the dentist’s. 我剛看牙回來。

It was a modern jeweller’s. 這是一家現(xiàn)代化的首飾店。

We had a great evening at Paul’s. 我們在保羅家度過了一個愉快的夜晚。

They were married in St Bartholomew’s. 他們是在圣巴塞洛繆大教堂結(jié)婚的。

“Where’s Jenny?” “She’s gone to the butcher’s.”“詹妮在哪兒?”“她去肉店了。”

She bought a bottle of vitamin tablets at the chemist’s. 她在藥房買了一瓶維生素片。

You can’t go to London without visiting Harrod’s. 你不能去了倫敦而不去參觀哈羅德百貨商店。
