第二章 寫作之旅
第一板塊:美文共賞
The Best Day on Earth
An ordinary(平常的) morning. You are starting your ordinary day. Do you want it to be ordinary? Ask yourself a question: “What would I do if today was the last day of my life?” I think your answer will be: “I would like it to be the best day of my life.”
I don’t want to upset you, but nobody can ever find out what day is going to be the last. And so it’s better to live each day of your life as if it is the last. I’m not telling you to quit(辭去) your job and spend all your money on traveling. But you can live your life to its fullest by adding some simple things to each day. It doesn’t matter what is going on, but it does matter how you feel about it. Do not forget that life is too short to be unhappy! Here is my recipe for the best day on Earth!
1. A Handful of Happiness
Where can you find it? Take a look inside of you! Happiness doesn’t come from the outside, it is within you. Each moment your life gives you a lot of opportunities(機會) to be happy. If you want to see them, you will. If you don’t, it’s up to you.
2. A Handful of Love
Love is the harmony(和諧) of your soul. A little love can make a big difference to the whole world. We are one. Everyone and everything deserve(值得)your love as well as you do.
“You can search(搜查) throughout the entire(整個的) universe(宇宙) for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection(感情) than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” ? Buddha
3. A Handful of Gratitude
Gratitude(感激)is one of the strongest positive(積極的) feelings. We all have something to be grateful for. If you are grateful for everything that you have, you will get more things to feel gratitude for. And this feeling makes you feel good.
“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.” ? Buddha
4. A Handful of Dreams
Feel free to dream big dreams and make small steps towards them. You are the creator of your life. Every time you are doing something to achieve your goals you are growing.
“To dream anything that you want to dream. That’s the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do. That is the strength of the human will. To trust(信任)yourself to test your limits(極限). That is the courage(勇氣)to succeed.” ? Bernard Edmonds
5. A Handful of Freedom
Feel free to do whatever you want to do! Do everything that makes you happy! Push the limits! Do you remember Yes Man movie with Jim Carrey? Always say “Yes” if you feel that it is the right thing to do right now. This can be the way to your dreams.
6. A Handful of Creativity
Try to be creative in everything you do. Try to do your best every time you are doing something. Do not be afraid to use your imagination. It’s such a pleasure to do something new. Feel the joy of creation!
7. A Handful of Laughter
It’s difficult to overestimate(高估) the role(作用) of laughter. It makes us feel good and unites us. In addition(此外) it is the best medicine! And it certainly can make any day brighter.
8. A Game
Life is a game. Don’t take it seriously. Do you like to play games? Why not play every day? Don’t be afraid to lose, everybody can lose. One day you will be the winner! Our greatest glory(榮譽)is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.
9. A Handful of Magic
Do you believe in magic? Well, you should. Life is full of miracles(奇跡). In fact, life itself is a big miracle. There are so many things that are beyond our understanding.
“There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.” ? Albert Einstein
10. A Holiday
Celebrate(慶祝) every day of your life! Let the spirit(精神) of holiday fill each corner of your heart. Why not? You live your life to its fullest and move towards your dreams!

An eight-year-old child heard her parents talking about her little brother. All she knew was that he was very sick and they had no money. Only a very expensive operation could save him now and there was no one to lend them the money.
When she heard her daddy say to her tearful mother, “Only a miracle can save him now,” the little girl went to her bedroom and pulled her money from its hiding place and counted it carefully.
She hurried to a drugstore (藥店) with the money in her hand.
“And what do you want?” asked the salesman. “It’s for my little brother,” the girl answered. “He’s really, really sick and I want to buy a miracle.” “Pardon?” said the salesman.
“My brother Andrew has something bad growing inside his head and my daddy says only a miracle can save him. So how much does a miracle cost?” “We don’t sell a miracle here, child. I’m sorry,” the salesman said with a smile.
“Listen, if it isn’t enough, I can try and get some more. Just tell me how much it costs.”
A well-dressed man heard it and asked, “What kind of a miracle does your brother need?”
“I don’t know,” she answered with her eyes full of tears. “He’s really sick and mum says he needs an operation. But my daddy can’t pay for it, so I have brought all my money.”
“How much do you have?” asked the man. “$ 1.11, but I can try and get some more,” she answered.
“Well, what luck,” smiled the man. “$ 1.11, the price of a miracle for little brothers.”
He took up the girl’s hand and said, “Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let’s see if I have the kind of miracle you need.”
